α-MnO2 Nanowires as Potential Scaffolds for a High-Performance Formaldehyde Gas Sensor Device

Herein, we report a chemi-resistive sensing method for the detection of formaldehyde (HCHO) gas. For this, α-MnO2 nanowires were synthesized hydrothermally and examined ascertaining their chemical composition, crystal phase, morphology, purity, vibrational properties. The XRD pattern confirmed high crystallinity purity nanowires. FESEM images random orientation smooth-surfaced wire-shaped morphologies as-synthesized Further, with rounded tips had uniform diameter throughout length average was found to be 62.18 nm ~2.0 μm. at an optimized temperature 300 °C, fabricated HCHO sensor based on demonstrated gas response, recovery times 19.37, 18, 30 s, respectively.
